Volunteer Day 2018: FAQ

We are just over 2 weeks away from Volunteer Day at DRI2018 in Nashville! Here is everything that our volunteers need to know about the event and their participation – including transportation information, and important waivers that must be signed.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee opened its doors in 1978 with commitment from several community leaders. The purpose of the organization was to provide a central distribution center for companies, groups and individuals who wished to help provide food for hungry people in Middle Tennessee.
Second Harvest’s mission is to feed hungry people and work to solve hunger issues in our community.
Today, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is one of the largest and most comprehensive of over 200 food banks and food distribution centers nationwide. During the 2016/2017 fiscal year, Second Harvest distributed more than 32 million pounds of food to more than 490 Partner Agencies, providing more than 26 million meals of food to hungry children, families and seniors throughout our 46-county service area.

Volunteer Check-In
6:45am to 7:40am at Magnolia Mezzanine North, 2nd Floor
A light breakfast will be provided – Breakfast is sponsored by Michele Turner and M2
This is where you will pick up your t-shirts and any other items pertinent to the day

***Please let us know in advance if you will be providing your own transportation to Volunteer Day***

Volunteer Day Commitment
9:00am to 12:00pm
Lunch
A boxed lunch will be provided by the DRI Foundation at the completion of Volunteer Day.
***Please email mostler@drii.org with any food allergies as soon as possible so that we can make any necessary arrangements for you.

Dress Code
Closed Toe Shoes – No Sandals or Flip Flops
Casual, Comfortable Clothing
No Dangling Jewelry
Suggested that you bring a sweatshirt – some volunteers could be assigned to sorting frozen food donations

Waiver
Prior to the start of the day, all Volunteers must sign a DRIF Waiver for Volunteers 2018 and a Second Harvest-Volunteer Waiver.
Please sign and return both attached waivers by email or fax (866-419-1595) at your earliest convenience.
