The DRI Foundation is proud to help the needs of women, particularly during Women’s History Month. To this end, it has provided funding to The Shoebox Project, a Canadian nonprofit that supports women impacted by homelessness.
Founded in 2011, the Ontario-based organization supports women experiencing or at-risk-of homelessness, by celebrating diversity, building awareness, challenging stigmas, and promoting equity. Its shoebox gifts are filled with essential items like personal hygiene products, as well as “little luxuries” to promote self-expression and help put vulnerable populations on the path to recovery. The Shoebox Project also provides in-kind donations, education, and community outreach.
“I am taking this opportunity to let you know that you are a valued donor to us, as you have made it possible for someone to feel valued and seen through a small gesture of kindness like a Shoebox,” said Executive Director Rosie Smythe. “We are inspired by the warmth, kindness, and generosity that we witness every day from donors like yourself, who truly care about their community. We hope that you will continue to support us as we spread kindness and hope, one Shoebox at a time.”
