The DRI Foundation is proud to announce that Foundation Vice Chairperson Jerry Vevon will assume an additional role overseeing efforts for the DRIF Veterans Outreach Program (VOP). Over the past five years, the VOP has grown, with over 460 applicants over the past two years alone. With the scale of applicants and awardees continuing to accelerate, Vevon provides a link between the Foundation Board and the VOP.
Responsibilities will include overseeing the nomination and approval process, helping align scholarship awardees with training classes, supporting presentation of any veteran-only classes, and following up with graduates on their successes with employment.
Vevon is uniquely qualified for this role as he has been the DRIF Board Vice Chairperson and co-leading the Giving Committee for the past ten years. He has 44 years of management, leadership, and analytical experience including strategic planning, continuity of operations, business continuity planning, crisis management, assessments, and force protection. He served on active duty in the US Army for 22 years as a Ranger-qualified Master Parachutist. He has received the CIA National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction, the US Army Military Intelligence Knowlton Award, and is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Following retirement from the Army, Vevon has worked the past 23 years in business continuity providing continuity support to Federal and States agencies most recently the Department of Veteran Affairs. He is a Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), and Certified Public Sector Continuity Professional (CPSCP) as well as certified as a DRII Instructor. Most recently, Vevon was the senior resilience practitioner at Deloitte’s Government and Public Services practice providing focused support to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and US Census Bureau.
