Two members of the DRI Foundation Women in Business Continuity Management (WBCM) Committee – Mitzi Harlor and Leah Sawyer – have been honored by the foundation with the Distinguished Service Award. The award was presented at the 2022 DRI Awards of Excellence Gala, held at the DRI2022 conference in Las Vegas this week.
“The DRI Foundation is an all-volunteer organization,” says foundation President Al Berman. “Each year, we honor those who have contributed the most to further the outreach and inclusiveness of our cause: building a more resilient world.
“This year we honor two such individuals — Mitzi Harlor and Leah Sawyer — who have helped create a forum, as well as a mentoring and scholarship program to encourage more women to enter the resiliency field. Their efforts have built an organization that is over 650 strong and still growing.”
Vice chair of the WBCM Committee, Harlor, CBCP, is a director on Marriott International’s business continuity team. She has been a business continuity practitioner for more than 15 years and is responsible for operational continuity and emergency response planning at corporate offices and managed hotels across 130 countries and territories worldwide.
WBCM Committee Lead, Sawyer, MBCP, is the head of business continuity for Staples where she manages corporate business continuity programs and facility emergency planning for warehouses in the U.S. and Canada.
