Emergency Kits, Training for Ukraine Receives DRI Foundation Funding

As the war in Ukraine continues, humanitarian organizations have stepped up to ensure that vital services are provided and protected. Mission Kharkiv is one such organization, and the DRI Foundation has provided support for its efforts.

Mission Kharkiv began operating in February, 2022 to address pharmaceutical supply chains disrupted by the conflict. Over time, its efforts have expanded to include cancer relief and other humanitarian projects. Most recently, this has included a project to protect Ukrainian power plant workers under fire.

“Power plant workers in Ukraine are facing constant missile strikes as Russian forces target the country’s energy infrastructure,” writes project leader Angie Hyrtsiuk. “These workers are vital to keeping the power grid operational, yet they are left highly vulnerable in dangerous conditions. They lack access to adequate first aid and medical supplies to address life-threatening injuries caused by these attacks. With government resources stretched thin due to the ongoing war, this urgent civilian need remains unmet.”

One thousand workers are to be equipped with life-saving first aid kits and critical medical training, with the goal of reducing fatalities and injuries, enhancing their ability to respond to emergencies. Once properly trained, they will pass the knowledge along, creating a network of first responders in dangerous areas.

The DRI Foundation is proud to provide support and vital financial assistance to such nonprofit organizations to aid their missions in communities where they are needed. Click here to learn more about how you can help.
