In the wake of the destruction brought about by Hurricane Helene, the DRI Foundation has connected with nonprofit organizations in the southeastern United States to support their relief and recovery efforts.
One such organization is BeLoved Asheville. For the past 15 years, it has focused on ensuring food access, affordable housing, advocacy, healthcare, and school supplies for North Carolina residents.
In a post-hurricane statement for supporters, the organization wrote:
“Backed by your support, BeLoved Asheville is dedicating every resource to those most affected by this disaster. Our immediate focus has been on critical necessities like food, water, and healthcare for survival and stability. As winter looms, we are securing warm and safe housing for the displaced. Looking further ahead, recovery from the vast destruction will be a large-scale investment over several years. We believe that we can unite to rebuild a community that embodies home, health, equity, and opportunity for all.”
Also receiving support from the DRI Foundation is Overflowing Hands, which works to ensure food, shelter, healthcare, and other vital services for children and families throughout North Carolina. It is currently fundraising to provide much-needed meals and supplies for residents of the state and surrounding mountain towns caught off-guard by the hurricane, and subsequently isolated by damaged roads and bridges.
“Overflowing Hands is a 100% volunteer organization and all funds raised for Hurricane Helene Relief will be used to directly support local communities, families and kids in the areas affected by this historic storm,” it says in its fundraising campaign.
The DRI Foundation is proud to provide support and vital financial assistance to such nonprofit organizations to aid their missions in communities where they are needed. Click here to learn more about how you can help those impacted by the recent hurricanes.
