Bonnie’s Volunteer View: Volunteer Day in Austin, TX

Volunteer Day at the DRI2023 conference was a HUGE success. It’s always great to see our DRI Certified Professionals come together and leave a lasting mark on the communities we serve. This year was no exception.

We were able to offer two volunteer opportunities for our Certified Professionals to share their time and experiences.

Cultivating “SEEDS” Forum (Sisters Encourage Empower Developing Success)

Half of our volunteers attended the Cultivating “SEEDS” Forum. (Sisters Encourage Empower Developing Success) with our non-profit partner Dress For Success™ Austin’ at our host AlertMedia’s office. At this event, participants shared their stories, experiences and made connections that will last long past this day. The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Our volunteers’ efforts contributed to this mission.

La Fiesta Extravaganza en Febrero

The other half attended the La Fiesta Extravaganza en Febrero with our host non-profit Volunteers of America, Texas. Needless to say, a great time was had by all in attendance.

We cooked hot dogs, hosted games with fabulous prizes and were able to make a rainy and chilly day enjoyable for the folks that lived within this Senior Citizens Low Income Housing Complex. Volunteers of America Volunteers of America Texas (VOA Texas) is a ministry of service, that strengthens communities by helping the vulnerable reach their full potential. In full disclosure it’s still unclear who had more fun!
