Foundation Supports Evacuteer Efforts to Increase Resilience

The DRI Foundation is proud to provide support to Evacuteer, a New Orleans based organization dedicated to creating safe, resilient, sustainable communities throughout southeast Louisiana.

Founded in 2009, Evacuteer focuses on what it identifies as the three pillars of sustainability: economy, environment, and society. “In order to increase resilience all sectors of the community must take deliberate steps towards resilience,” it says. “Evacuteer sees its expanded mission in 2020 is to unite all sectors in order to be better prepared for when the next disaster comes, be it economic, man-made, or natural.”

Currently its programs include:

  • EvacuGeaux: Community Assisted Evacuation
  • EvacuStrong: Community Resiliency Projects
  • EvacuBiz: Resilience for SMBs, NGOs and Faith-Based Organizations
  • EvacuKids: STEM-based Experiential Learning Program for Children

Among its representatives is a face that may be familiar to the DRI community — Bonnie Canal, MBCP, a nationally recognized resilience leader and winner of the 2020 DRI Award for Non-Profit Program Leader of the Year, is Evacuteer’s Executive Director.

The DRI Foundation is proud to support such nonprofit organizations in communities impacted by disasters to provide crucial assistance. 100 percent of the money collected for the Global Pandemic Fund will go to small, local organizations that are an integral part of their communities. Click here to donate.
