In its efforts to support women’s empowerment through professional training, the DRI Foundation has provided funding to the Paraisópolis Women’s Association in Brazil.
Since 2006, the Paraisópolis Women’s Association has fought to increase access to equity and security of women in the São Paulo region. By 2018, it had impacted the lives of more than 10,000 women through different types of training, enabling the absorption of talent for its projects.
It works to promote female empowerment through professional training, supporting and strengthening women in the community in situations of social vulnerability, fighting for gender equality, and in defense of women on the fringes of society.
“We consider ourselves not only strong women but also warriors, daughters, mothers and grandparents who struggle daily to keep fighting and resist all the setbacks faced by us in poor areas in Paraisópolis slum,” it told the Foundation.
Because of a lack of government support during the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization has stepped up to provide essential services for its community, including meal assistance, ambulance assistance, basic grocery and hygiene needs, emergency rescue, legal aid, and much more.
The DRI Foundation is proud to support such nonprofit organizations in communities impacted by disasters to provide crucial assistance. 100 percent of the money collected for the Global Pandemic Fund will go to small, local organizations that are an integral part of their communities.
