The DRI Foundation is proud to support Mary’s Place, which provides shelter for families and a path out of homelessness for those in the greater Seattle area.
Since 1999, Mary’s Place has helped hundreds of women and families move out of homelessness into more stable situations. Across seven emergency family shelters in King County, WA, it keeps struggling families together, inside, and safe when they have no place else to go, providing resources, housing and employment services, community, and hope.
Because of the close contact of those in shelters, concerns over COVID-19 exposure have been heightened. Addressing this, the shelter released a statement:
“Taking guidance from our partners at local hospitals, the Washington Department of Health, Public Health – Seattle & King County, the CDC, and our own Mary’s Place health care team, we are actively taking steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and be ready to respond quickly should someone exhibit symptoms. We continue to actively monitor and adjust our approach as the situation changes.”
The DRI Foundation is proud to support such nonprofit organizations in communities impacted by disasters to provide crucial assistance. 100 percent of the money collected for the Global Pandemic Fund will go to small, local organizations that are an integral part of their communities.
