Foundation Aid Brings Vital Needs to Youth Affected by Serbian Floods

Over the past year, Serbia has been bombarded with the heaviest rains and floods recorded in 120 years, leaving thousands of children homeless, without food, water, or dry clothes. This led the DRI Foundation to provide funding to an organization focused on providing these vital necessities to the region’s youth.

Pomoć deci (“Save the Children”) has been working in Serbia since 2004 to promote quality childcare and education for children and their parents. Its three main focus areas:

  • Quality education for all – Improvement of ethnic minority education from pre-school level to adult education
  • Youth mobilization– Promotion of youth activism and local social partnerships
  • Protection against child trafficking– Registration of unregistered children and youth

In response to the recent flooding disaster, Pomoć deci set up a special project to bring immediate relief and development assistance to children and families. This effort brings essential aid about 1,000 children to continue education and rebuild their lives. It will also support family efforts to repair their houses and businesses.

“Thank you for your kindness in supporting [this project]. Your donation ensures that we can continue helping children whose families have suffered from the heavy rains and landslides,” said Director Ljiljana Vasic. “Thank you for being a part of our team of supporters that are making our project a reality.”

The DRI Foundation is proud to provide support and vital financial assistance to such nonprofit organizations to aid their missions in communities where they are needed. Click here to learn more about how you can help.
