Veterans Outreach Program Grows Mentorship Efforts With Monthly Guest Speakers

The DRI Foundation Veterans Outreach Program is proud to honor this November’s Veterans Day with its work. In the past year, 94 scholarships have been awarded, bringing the total to more than 1,000 since the committee’s inception. In its continuing efforts to provide support and career guidance for recently separated and near-term separation military service members, program leaders hold a monthly session for mentees. The agenda features an opening session with a guest speaker, followed by a question-and-answer session. These meetings are in addition to the one-on-one mentorship activities.

“The monthly mentorship meetings started in May of this year as a way to maintain an active connection with the members of our program,” said Keith Pierson, Mentorship Lead.

“Since the first monthly meeting, these virtual calls have covered speed mentorship sessions and now, in the past two calls, we are bringing in guest speakers who are successful BC professionals in the industry to speak on a variety of topics. We are constantly finetuning and tailoring our meetings to bring the most value to our mentees. Our goal is to keep our engagement and motivation level high enough to inspire our transitioning services to make the leap into the BC industry.”

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 1:00 p.m. EST. The guest speaker is Guy Ragusa, Vice President of Engineering Business Continuity at Goldman Sachs. He will be speaking on understanding your core strengths and finding your driving purpose. For additional information, contact kpierson@driif.org.
