NEW YORK – January 29 — DRI International (‘DRI’), the world’s leading business continuity and disaster recovery training organization, is pleased to announce that Nashville and Davidson County has officially proclaimed that February 10, 2018 will be ‘DRI Foundation Volunteer Day’ in recognition of DRI Foundation’s annual Volunteer Day held during the DRI2018 annual conference.
The proclamation encourages “all citizens to recognize this special day and support the thoughtful and generous work of the DRI Foundation,” and was issued to demonstrate the city’s appreciation for volunteers who choose to make a difference in the community.
The DRI Foundation is mobilizing and coordinating its network of volunteers and resources for Volunteer Day to help two non-profit organizations in Nashville: Operation Stand Down Tennessee, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
Lonnell Matthews, Director of Nashville’s Office of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement, will be at Operation Stand Down Tennessee between 10 and 10:30 a.m. to officially deliver the proclamation.
“DRI is honored to receive this recognition, and thankful that each year we can count on a dedicated group of volunteers engaged in the Foundation’s mission to promote resilient communities worldwide,” said AnneMarie Staley, DRI Foundation Chair. “We’re very grateful to the city of Nashville for recognizing our efforts.”
“We are especially pleased to be able to support veterans here in Nashville,” said Al Berman, DRI Foundation President. “This is an extension of the Foundation’s commitment to veterans, including our Veterans Outreach Program which provides scholarships to help veterans transition into the professions of emergency response, crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery.”
