As part of its continuing outreach to the veterans community, the DRI Foundation’s amazing volunteer group teamed up with Veterans Village in Las Vegas as part of DRI2017’s Volunteer Day. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman even officially proclaimed Feb. 25, 2017 DRI Foundation Day!
Bob Beers, Las Vegas City Councilman, Ward 2, welcomed volunteers at Veterans Village, where he read the proclamation, which was issued to demonstrate the city’s appreciation for volunteers who choose to make a difference in the community.
“We are especially pleased to be able to support veterans here in Las Vegas,” said DRI President Al Berman. “I see this as an extension of our overall commitment to veterans, which includes our Veterans Outreach Program which provides scholarships to help 
veterans transition into the professions of emergency response, crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery.”
“[Veterans Village] is happy to welcome DRI’s volunteers and their support of our vision – the creation of an environment that is home to United States Veterans,” said Arnold Stalk PhD, Founder, Veterans Village Las Vegas, which provides transitional housing to veterans and others at risk of homelessness, and is expanding into a neighborhood near Nellis Air Force Base.
The Nellis Air Force Base Honor Guard was on hand on the evening of Feb. 28 at the 2017 
DRI Awards of Excellence Gala, presenting colors and the National Anthem to begin the event.
