Congratulations to the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council, recipients of a $1,000 donation from the DRI Foundation!
The donation will help support Rowlett Explorer Post 1, a year-round activity group open to young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20. The program is designed to give young adults the opportunity to experience CERT, Fire Rescue, EMS and Emergency Management first hand, as well as develop leadership and citizenship skills.
To see the Explorer group in action, watch this video, featuring adult CERT members and the Explorers (all fully CERT trained) helping in the response to the tornado that hit Rowlett in December 2015.
Jeanne Powell, CBCP, CEO of DAHR Consulting, is a leader in the Rowlett Community Emergency Response Team and the Explorers group. She is also presenting “Exercise Considerations for Outage, Emergency, and Disaster Plans,” a session at DRI2016 on Tues., Mar. 8 at 9:15 a.m. Here’s what to expect:
Outages, Emergencies, and Disasters each have a different magnitude of business disruption. Designing and executing exercises that reflect situational dynamics and ripple effects will help highlight overlaps, dependencies, and gaps as scenario dimensions require. Individual plans may be forced to be amalgamated at different levels, depending on the exercise scope and conditions of the exercise scenario. Plan interdependencies and resource requirements can be stressed as scenarios and ripple effects increase overall business impact. Come learn from a speaker with a rich background in disasters and from other attendees, as everyone is encouraged to share their experiences.
