‘It Makes a Lasting Impact’: DRI Foundation and Water Missions International Partner for Nepal Relief

After two earthquakes devastated Nepal in the spring of 2015, the DRI Foundation created the Nepal Relief Fund to help affected communities with long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts. The Foundation put those funds to use by partnering with Water Missions International to bring safe water treatment systems and engineers from around the world to provide safe water to affected areas.

”The intent and the desire, which makes Water Missions good is that it’s not a one-and-done type thing. It’s sustainable. When the team leaves, there’s something there. It makes a lasting impact,” said Chair Jerry Vevon, chair of the DRI Foundation’s giving committee, in a recent interview with Water Missions International.

Rural areas in Nepal were among the most adversely affected and lacking access to safe water. Read the full Water Missions blog post here on how the efforts of the Foundation and Water Missions resulted in safer drinking water for a community of about 800 people in Khorla, a small village northwest of Kathmandu.
