Members of the DRI team were out to help the Red Hook Coalition make its Ready Red Hook Day a success! The event held on September 13 gave members of the community the opportunity to prepare and practice their own emergency plans. About 150 participants visited 4 community centers where they learned about the function of each site in the event of a disaster. The DRI team of the New York office was on-hand, spreading the message of preparedness, and providing go-bags, courtesy of DRI Foundation, as prizes to attendees that completed the exercise. Representatives from the NYPD, Fire Department, the America Red Cross, the HUB, the Red Hook Local Leaders were also present and provided resources to the community.
DRI International staff provided information to attendees. Here is what staff had to say about the event:
“The Ready Red Hook experience was a rewarding one. We were able to help provide members of the community with not only personal preparedness kits, but also expertise on resilience in the event of another storm.” – Adam Fondale, Global Operations Associate,DRI International
